Livelihood

Food security exists when all people at all times have physical, social and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food to meet their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life. The four pillars of food security are: food availability, access to food, utilization and stability. Through these vertical farm bags- kitchen gardens, malnutrition will be a thing of the past since families will have available vegetables for consumption. Moreover, the kitchen gardens is a source of income that can help the women/young mothers to be able to assist their other children in school levies, purchase of stationary and as a source of livelihood.

Why vertical farm bags? No land, no problem. The small bag is small enough to fit on ones’ balcony. Suitable for urban farmers. Small garden, big harvest. The large bag only stands on a squire meter. And on this squire meter you can grow at least 100 plants! How many plants can you grow on a squire meter on the ground? Forget about weeding. Weeds rarely grow on the bags and when they do, you simple uproot by hand. The bags are water efficient. You don’t lose much of water through evaporation as not much of the soil is exposed to direct sun. Stop searching for traditional vegetables. You know how difficult it can be to come across traditional (Kienyeji) vegetables at the market and in the groceries in town. You can grow your very own vegetables such as amaranth, sukuma wiki/ kales, spinach, nightshade and herbs such as rose mary and mint. The bags are reusable and can last for years. Made of UV-inhibiting material.
